There are no rules when planning a wedding, and Ashley and Andrew took that to heart when planning theirs. Rooted in nature, it was important to them that the actual wedding took place with just the two of them in the outdoors. They decided to fly to Montana and elope in Glacier National Park.(They actually ended up asking other hikers to take a couple photos of them. I wish they would have found me before they went to Glacier.) Then they flew back, and threw a second wedding at their home in Pennsylvania to celebrate with their closest friends and family…and they planned it all in about 2 months. They did it their way, and got to enjoy the perfect small backyard wedding.
Getting Ready in Their Farmhouse
The bride got ready with her family and friends in the upstairs of her farmhouse. There were tons of big windows and natural light making it ideal for photographs. There was also so much excitement in the air. Ashley and Andrew had been a couple since high school, but they were officially going to unite their families. Everybody was thrilled that the day was finally here.
Small Outdoor backyard Wedding Ceremony
Ashley and Andrew decided to make their old wooden barn the backdrop of their outdoor ceremony. It had aged in a way that gave it so much character, and really added to the aesthetic of the day. Ashley’s brother officiated, and shared the sweetest stories about their love story. There were laughter and tears, and so much joy.
Nature Inspired Reception
With a deep love of the outdoors and family, the couple combined earthy elements, and family style tables, to create the perfect nature inspired reception. They used ferns, moss, candles, wooden chairs, and twinkly string lights to create the coziest woodsy vibe. They danced, listened to some heartfelt toasts from their families, and even brought out some hats they bought in Montana for their elopement. One thing that was clear throughout the day, was how deep their love was for one another, and how happy every person there was that they were officially married.
