Maybe you’re picturing private vows in the quiet forests of Pennsylvania, a ceremony surrounded by family at an overlook in Hickory Run, or chasing waterfalls at Ohiopyle. Whatever you’re dreaming up, I’d love to help you bring it to life.

why elope in Pennsylvania?

Pennsylvania is such a large and diverse state. It is the home to lush forests, the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains,  and pristine lakes and rivers,  Whatever adventure you are looking for, you can find it here.

Thanks to the Quakers, Pennsylvania is one of 8 states, where you can self unite. This means you do not need an officiant to perform your wedding ceremony. You do still need two witnesses to be present.

Ceremonies are typically permitted in all PA state parks but do require pre-approval from the park office.

Gabrielle and Cody

“Wow, where do we even start with Aimee?! She was hands down the best photographer we could have hoped for on our wedding day! From the moment she arrived, her vibrant and bubbly personality lit up the room, instantly making everyone feel relaxed and at ease. Aimee's passion for her craft is contagious, and it shows in every stunning shot she took."

Hannah and Mike

“Aimee was the star of the show!!! Aimee made it so easy for my husband and me just to be ourselves from start to finish, and captured the most beautiful moments. And we had so much fun and laughter while we were doing it! Aimee was so relaxed yet knew exactly what to do at every moment and got it done!”

Jenny and Mick

“Aimee is such a gifted photographer (praise given by two pretentious NYC art school grads) and was the second best wedding-related decision we made, aside from marrying each other. 100/10 would recommend! don't blink! Just book her. ;)”

FAQs About Eloping in Pennsylvania

Planning a nontraditional wedding day in Pennsylvania? Here’s what couples like you ask most — and how I can help make it all feel way easier.

Do we need an officiant in Pennsylvania?
Not necessarily! Pennsylvania is one of the few states that offers self-uniting marriage licenses, which means you can legally marry each other without an officiant. You’ll just need two witnesses to sign your license — and I can help you figure out how that all works.

How do we get a marriage license in PA?
You’ll need to apply in person at any county courthouse in Pennsylvania. There’s a 3-day waiting period, so don’t leave it to the last minute. Costs vary by county but typically range from $50–$100. The license is valid for 60 days anywhere in the state.

Where are the best places to elope in Pennsylvania?
From forest overlooks to waterfalls and wildflower meadows, PA has a little bit of everything. Some favorite spots:

Ohiopyle State Park (great for waterfalls and adventure)

Ricketts Glen (waterfall trails and lush woods)

Hickory Run (overlooks and Boulder Field)

Cherry Springs (incredible stargazing)

Can we bring our family or friends?
Absolutely! Whether you want a private ceremony followed by a celebration or a day that blends both from the start, there’s no one way to do it. I help couples build timelines that include time alone and time with their people.

What if the weather's bad?
One of the perks of keeping your day flexible is that we can roll with whatever the skies bring. I’ll help you come up with a backup plan — and honestly, fog, rain, or snow can add a little extra magic to your photos.

Do we need a permit to elope in a Pennsylvania park?
Some parks require a permit for ceremonies or professional photography, and others don’t. I’ll help you figure out what’s needed for your location and guide you through the process so there are no surprises.
