Anna and Colin’s Woodsy PA Elopement

September 16, 2020

Anna and Colin threw the sweetest Woodsy PA Elopement. Their day was so special. It had a certain ease about it, that you don’t always feel at a larger wedding. Collin and Anna decided to elope on a hillside in the middle of the woods across from their home, surrounded by 4 of their closest friends, and they wore Lee Jeans jumpsuits! (please let this trend catch on because it was adorable) The rest of the crew wore “Canadian Tuxedo’s”. What could be more fun?

Why the Pennsylvania woods are perfect for your elopement

The literal meaning of Pennsylvania is Penn’s Wood’s, so this state is not messing around when it comes to having ample forest land to choose from for your elopement. No matter the season, Pa’s woods offer a stunning background for your celebration. In the spring and summer they are green and lush, in the fall they are vibrant and full of color, and in the winter they have a muted but gorgeous color palette.

Getting Ready at a Historic Inn

The girls got ready at a sweet Victorian Inn nearby. The morning was filled with so much laughter and excitement. They made bouquets, and a boutonniere, and we all took a moment to celebrate the bathtub in the room. Once they were ready, they drove to Anna and Colin’s home to meet up with the guys.

An Intimate Ceremony in the Woods

The couple and their friends, and Fozzie the dog (who was the honorary ring bearer) crossed a stream, and started the walk up the hill to their chosen ceremony spot. They decided to have a self uniting ceremony (thanks to the state of Pennsylvania for its Quaker roots), under an arbor that was handmade by the groom himself. The couple exchanged hand written vows, rings made locally by Made Jewelry, and a kiss. It was just the sweetest, most intimate ceremony. The group took their time walking back to the house to celebrate with food and champagne, and the most delicious cake.

Final Thoughts on this Woodsy PA Wedding

Weddings don’t have to be stressful. They can be whatever you want them to be. This wedding was intimate, emotional, and filled with joy. Choosing a location that was already meaningful to them, made the day even more magical. I recommend you choosing a place that is special to you, whether it is somewhere you already love, or a place you have always wanted to explore together.
