All the bride wanted for her wedding day was snow.
And somehow, the universe absolutely delivered.
Big, beautiful snowflakes fell for most of the day, transforming Ricketts Glen State Park into a quiet winter wonderland. What unfolded was a slow, intentional, joy-filled winter elopement that felt peaceful, playful, and deeply personal from start to finish.
This is what a winter elopement at Ricketts Glen State Park can look like when you lean into the season and let the day unfold naturally.
A Cozy Cabin Morning to Start Their Winter Elopement Day
The day began at a cozy Airbnb cabin tucked into the Pennsylvania woods. Snow drifted down outside while the bride got her hair and makeup done inside, wrapped in warmth and anticipation.
There was no rush. No pressure. Just a calm morning, hot drinks, quiet excitement, and the feeling that something really special was about to happen.
Once she was ready, the groom arrived with their sweet dog Daisy for a first look. First, a private moment between the two of them. Then, a second first look with Daisy, because of course she needed her moment too. It set the tone for the entire day. Relaxed, emotional, and full of heart.

A Snowy Hike Through Ricketts Glen State Park
From the cabin, we headed to Ricketts Glen State Park. While the park is famous for its waterfalls, winter conditions meant being thoughtful and safe. Many of the falls were frozen, so we chose a trail that allowed us to explore without pushing too far.
They hiked at an easy pace, stopping often to take in the scenery, laugh together, and kiss on every bridge they crossed. Apparently that is their thing, and it felt exactly right for the day.
Snow coated the trees, the trail felt quiet and still, and the falling flakes made everything feel soft and calm. It was one of those hikes where you are not trying to get anywhere fast. You are just enjoying being there together.

A Self-Uniting Winter Ceremony Along the Water
They found a beautiful spot along the water where they exchanged vows and rings, surrounded by snow-covered trees and the quiet sounds of winter.
Because this winter elopement took place in Pennsylvania, the couple chose a self-uniting marriage license. That meant they did not need an officiant, only two witnesses, to legally marry. It allowed the ceremony to feel even more personal and intimate.
They read their vows, held hands, laughed, and soaked in the moment as snow continued to fall around them. It was simple and meaningful and completely true to who they are.

A Lakeside Picnic and Winter Play
After hiking back out, we headed to Lake Jean for a picnic lunch with hot apple cider. They tried sledding, laughed through it, and leaned fully into the joy of the season.
As the sun dipped lower, they walked out onto the frozen lake, soaking in the quiet. Before leaving, the bride made a snow angel, a perfect ending to a day she had dreamed of for so long.
